Over the past decade, owners of the Super Duty have reported a few areas that the truck has been known to have issues. These are with the transmission, electrical system, brakes, suspension, and the fuel system. These issues shouldn’t deter you though, because regardless of some issues, the Super Duty is a powerful and capable workhorse. If that’s something you need, then we have you taken care of.
Let’s take a closer look at these problems. The first one we’ll look at is the transmission. Some models have a hard time shifting gears, even with it slipping out of gear on occasion. Others have reported outright failure with the transmission, making for an even more costly repair.
The electrical system is a bit easier to notice when it happens since the lights will sometimes flicker, sensors will malfunction, or complete electrical failures.
The brake problems are on two ends of the spectrum. The first two problems are annoying, while the last one is hazardous to you and others. The two annoying problems are squealing brakes and premature wear. This causes you to have to replace them more often. The other problem will make it so that the brakes may fail completely.
The suspension may be prone to premature wear for some, as well as problems with the steering linkage. While not immediately dangerous, if you like a reliable ride, you may want to keep this one in check.
The fuel system has had a handful of problems that may arise from it, ranging from fuel leaks, to trouble with the fuel injector. This one will be easily taken care of with proper maintenance and mindfulness.
